New CBA at Skyland Dole

The Skyland Dole Philippines Incorporated Employees Union - ALU (SDPIEU-ALU) and Skyland Dole Philippines Incorporated (STANFILCO) finally signed a new Collective Bargaining Agreement on 20 May 2011 at the Pine Hills Hotel, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. 

Bro. Nicandro L. Borja, Regional Vice- President of ALU-NMR, Roberto S. Tinolan, SDPIEU President and Reynaldo E. Casino, Zone Councilor of Skyland Dole Phils., Kilaog Farms, Sumilao, Bukidnon signed the agreement. Supportive management representatives and local union officers and members were present during the ceremony. 

“With the signing[of the CBA], workers will receive, among many others, the following: P8.00 wage increase on year 1, P9.OO on year 2, and another P 9.00 on year 3.  Every employee covered by the agreement will also enjoy a signing bonus of P 2,800.00, “said chief negotiator Borja. 

“While the company is trying to cope with the present economic difficulties especially of the Banana Industry in the country, the Kilaog farm workers deserve the increase. They are very productive and hard working," Casino stressed. 

Meanwhile, The local officers of  the  Agrinanas  Development Corporation Incorporated Employees Union (ADCIEU) - ALU completed  the 9-10 June 2011 Entrepreneurial  Development Training  jointly undertaken  by  the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Region X and the Associated Labor Unions – Northern Mindanao Regional Office (ALU-NMRO)  at  DEMIRIN  Hotel, Tiano-Kalambaguhan  Sts.,  Cagayan  de Oro City. 

ADCIEU-ALU received  a  grant  from  DOLE RX, under  the  Workers  Income Augmentation Program    (WIN-AP)  in   the  amount   of   THREE HUNDRED THOUSAND PESOS         ( Php 300,000.00 ) for the local union’s rice trading project. 

“The entrepreneurship training is a requirement to prepare the officers in managing the grant and to inculcate business skills, ”said Nadeth Hallazgo, WIN-AP training coordinator of DOLE RX.  
Bro. Toto Nanolan, ADCIEU local union president, believes that entrepreneurship is the call of the times and in his years of work in the company, he realized that he is only fulfilling the dreams of the owners but not his own. Hence, he has resolved to become an entrepreneur. 

The Rice Trading Project is tripartite.  It is funded by DOLE, run by ADCIEU and assisted by Management.  Nanolan added that Agrinanas Development Corporation Incorporated even agreed on the payment of the workers’ rice loan  thru salary deduction just to help ensure project sustainability.
