E. HEALTH SERVICES DIVISION
The Health Services Division (HSD) provides medical, dental and allied health services to ALU members and their family members. The allied health services includes clinical laboratory, radiology, ultrasound, optical and blood chemistry. It is composed of one national and four regional health teams. The division had a total of 24 personnel, 15 regular and nine (9) consultants/retainers . There
were eleven physicians, five (five) dentists, four (4) nurses, 2 (two) radiologic technologists and two (2) medical technologists. These health personnel were spread in the national office and four regional.
1. Medical services
Medical and dental services have been among the basic health services provided by the health teams. As shown in Table 1, a total of 59,304 individual patients received medical services for the period 2006-2010. Among the common illnesses/medical conditions diagnosed and treated were metabolic and respiratory diseases.
